The nose immediately presents charred oak, smoke, earthy rye spice, dried flowers, and a subtle hint of vanilla. It's quite deep and less sweet than one might expect from Buffalo Trace. With breathing, it opens up to sweeter notes, creating intrigue about its taste. The palate is perhaps too gentle, offering oak, dried flowers, and a hint of rye. It falls a bit flat but fulfills the expected characteristics. The finish is medium at best, with all the flavors converging and fading a bit too quickly.
