About this bottle
Cajun country in Louisiana is rich in folklore, including tales of the Rougarou, a mythical creature reportedly seen in sugarcane fields only during a full moon, believed to punish wrongdoers. Local legend suggests leaving 13 pennies outside one's door can ward off this creature. This rum is made from molasses and raw sugar from the Donner-Peltier fields in Thibodaux, then infused with toasted pecans, local cane syrup, and Madagascar vanilla, with no artificial flavors or colors. It is fully assembled at the distillery, where 13 pennies are indeed placed outside the door as a precaution. Donner-Peltier Distillers, located in Thibodaux, announced its closure effective August 27, 2018.
